Some killer Nigel Slater recipes

Last night I made Nigel Slater’s Muscovado Hazelnut cake. It’s amazing – hardly any flour just lots and lots and lots of hazelnuts. And it keeps for ages and just keeps getting better. I cover it in dark chocolate which makes the whole thing beyond perfect. Sadly, I made it for Paul to take fishing and it’s gone!! If you’d like to give it a try it’s on the Observer food site

Paul himself cooked up a storm and made triple quantities of  Nigel’s shepherd’s pie with spiced parsnip mash. The idea is that he’ll be so busy catching fish for the week that there’ll be no time to cook. Mmmm… It is to die for and the recipe is here if you fancy giving it a go
